Och yus. Here's an update on all things
studio-ular from the recording of the nu
album. A fun filled recording sesh over at
the beautiful Grimersta Studios took place
yesterday (15th Feb). Five tracks are now
almost complete from a musicular point of
view. All that remains to do are the 40
layers of vocal harmonies. Jason has
excelled himself once more in composing
choons full of soul, passion, and musical
notes. First up was a moving tribute to the
recording of the guireans mighty
Alasdair Mackay is God (sorry Bod). Wattie
has laid down a test vocal which is in no
way the finished version and has to be done
again. Ok? And that bleeding note is hard to
acheive! And as for the middle eight!
Secondly a song about wind farms. During the
take, Jason announces that there is no
longer a third verse and there is now a
middle eight thing instead. It's nice to
know these things.
Thirdly a song provisionally called Funk
Odysey which has no wurds yet. And fourthly
a song about a lone surviving ship from the
Spanish Admarda finding itself at Scalpay-
possibly in the present day and seeing the
Scalpay bridge. We need to work on the
lyrics for this but the music is
fantastic. A sort of Rush meets Julio
Inglese ytype thing.
Fifthly is a 2002 version of Ponderous whcih
may form part of a mini concpet about
emigration or something.
So, its all go up here. Bet Robin and Jon
are jealous that they've been fired from the
band.
