Hey coves. I managed to get a ticket and got in to see the show!!!!!! Huge queues (I had to stand for 16 hours in the rain) and heavy security, but well worth the wait. Couldn't beleive it when Cyclefoot came on stage. Haven't seen them since 1983 at the last MOR. Great performance by Roddy H of an updated classic 'A**** Mac******ks Not Dead'. And was that ledgendary MOR producer Funky Ossian Stormwatch helping out of backing vocals and acting as a music stand????
Really liked Zing Pops funky update of The RidersofRohan.Pity CJ couldn't make it over to sing it. And as for Sheep Purple, they're even better live than on their CD-Ep. Huge surprise seeing a Swedish TV tribute band performing, but it was only afterwards we found out it was drummer RH who was on stage.Great acoustic treatment of Again and Hans.
And well, what can I say, after Bod Strummer came the band I had waited 20 years to see.... The Guireans, complete with long lost Guirean Neil The Hippy!!!!! What a truimphant performance!!!!! And they at last played Jazz Mucus.Well worth the wait.
And Dun Ringle were a nice way to round off a very enjoyable MOR 03. Great that they remembered so many lyrics and played some old songs too.
The Grand Finale of Feed The Sheep was brilliant. Hope it comes out as a single.
Did anyone else manage to get a ticket????

As a tribute to the top selling EP of proper bands, and to our own musical ineptitude, I think we should call the CD boxed set...

"How Much More Cac Could it Be? - The Midges of Rock Festival 2003"

Any better ideas?

Huidh, coves - I notice that legendary rock critic Lester "Peat" Banks (deceased) of the Plasterfield Advertiser has written an exhaustive in depth review of MOR 2003. You can get to it via the Guireans' Midges of Rock 2003  page.
