Dudes

Yes, the Dun Ringles are actually having a gig! Well, not really a Dun Ringles gig as such, more like being asked to play at some arts Council thing in An Lanntair on Thursday 25 March 2004.

The band have been asked to do a wee acoustic set at this thing (we don't know much about it yet), so Jason and Wattie will be doing about 20 minutes of new and old songs with only an acoustic guitar between them and the (possibly irrate) audience.

Watch out for more info on the message board, which we'll post up as soon as we find out just what the flick is happening!!!

Dun Ringles Spark Punk Festival Fracas
Plasterfield Advertiser, Sunday 14th August 2005:

Several members of Stornoway prog dinosaurs The Dun Ringles allegedly staged an impromptu "International Festival of Pomp Rock" last Thursday night in Macneill's, as a protest against all thon new-fangled and insufficiently complicated punk nonsense being touted at thon Honcho thing in Pointers.

According to a report from passing Stornoway "worthy" Mr D*gg*m D* (deceased), a horde of miniature green mohicans queuing outside the former sailors' home were harangued by a small group of elderly bearded figures in brown corduroy flares. "Come to our gig instead, maan",  the ageing Open-University-lecturer-lookalikes are said to have exhorted the crowd. "It'll be like 1977 never happened...."

A further report on what actually did happen, by somebody who was there, may follow.

Oh yus indeed- we showed them young gothy punks!!!

At around 10.00pm three of the DR's, namely Wattie, Jon and Jason were ushered into Macneils by manager Grassy, who had arranged an inpromptu and top secret accoustic performance at the regular Thursday night 'Open Mike Thing'. The band stood around hoping someone would notice them and ask them to play, but it was only when Jason commandeered the only guitar and refused to let go of it until a second guitar was found, that it looked like any DR music would issue forth from Macneils.
Accompanied by Colin (Feckless Youth ex Sign Red but now in Your Small Capital) MacLeod on the bongoes and backing vox and Donald (son of Noel) Eadie on accoustic bass, the DR's performed Calum B Sound and I Don't Like Sheep. The band chammed on a bluesy thing reminiscent of Valtos Blues before staggering back to their pints. Celebrity guests included Jori, Simon from Soundtracks and ex roadie Geoff plus nealry all Jasons ghillies, who had very sore heads the next day.
