hey coves

you've probably come across the parlour game of connecting celebrities through their love lifes so that say, ray davies went out with chrissie hynde who went out with jim kerr who went out with patsy kensit who went out with ally mccoist who went out with ian durrant.

given the vast amount of bands connected with the agofr scene has anyone got any good links ?
if anyone can connect an agofr band with the beatles or shocky and mull i'll give them a years supply of peats.

Um.  Some of us have played in bands with Pluckan who did the Friday night watering hole circuit with Gary Hawthorne who used to be a session player in That London in the sixties and claims to know Albert Lee so if he knows Albert Lee he probably knows Jimmy Page or Eric Clapton too...  Not very good is it?  Neither is Hawthorne.

I once had to borrow my brother-in-laws bass, and he used to be an apprentice joiner with Shocky. Is that any good? Oh, and Shocky fixed our leaky dormer window once. And I went to school with Pluckan. And I saw Swedish TV twice! And Jason says that the guy off Newsnight goes fishing to Grimersta every year, (Jeremy Paxman), and he told Jason that he was going to invite Brian May up one year but he didn't.

Gordon Macleod whose finest moment was ' And I Love Her ' by the Beatles - was in The Guireans with Iain ' Leroi ' Livingstone - who was in Memphis Louie and the Rockin' Firebirds of Death with Roddy Ono Huggan - who was in Photograph with Sandy Allan - who was in The Foxes with Brian ' Foxy ' Forgethissurnamebuthewasagit - who jammed with and went out with the daughter of Faron Rufley who was in Faron's Flamingoes and The Big Three - who once shared a visit to the V.D. clinic with Gerry Marsden and John Lennon ( who played on ' And I Love Her ' )

I think Mr Watson's link is the front runner at the mo

Well, hengoes, Rod Stewart to Deadollack in five moves? Thats a hard one but here goes.

1 Rod Stewart used to be in the Faces; 2  Cyclefoot had a song called Silly Faces; 3  Rod Huggart was in Cyclefoot; 4  he joined the Guireans ; 5 Deadollack is in the Guireans.

Is that it?

Right. Rod Stewart played in the Faces with Ron Wood. I have a Wasp monophonic buzzing machine (ex-Noal Eadie) which, due to an accident that occured during a "test of its durability" (eg, Noal wanted to impress the band with how hard-wearing the Wasp was, so he flung it into the back of the van and it shattered), has a new casing built, by Peter Dyer, out of Wood. And the Guireans used it on Wah! Mucus for Heng People, which Dead played on. To some kind of effect.

Let's extend  that original Ally McCoist->Patsy Kensit->Jim Kerr->Chrissie Hynde->Ray Davies  connection a bit further...

Ken "Taxfuhrer of Death" Livingstone's wife's dad used to work in an office in East Kilbride, many years ago, where the cleaner was none other than Super Ally's mammy.

This connects Ken to Ray Davies in only 8 moves!

Chrissie Hynde must have had a lot of connections in mid-70's American punk as well, before she came over here. I'll investigate further.

Memphis Louie to Oasis in two moves...

Memphis Louie & The Rockin Firebirds of Death contained three former members of the Subterraneans.

In 1983, at the St Valentine's dance in the Nicolson, The Subterraneans played support to ... Oasis!

Mad for it, our kid.

Memphis Louie to God in 5 moves.

Memphis Louie once cruelly mocked Midge Ure (Are you John Foxx) in the Caber when the Govan midget was on the Rock filming a video for some pants Ultravox choon, Midge Ure was co-conspraitor in the Live Aid Swindle with Rab Geldof, geldof got a knighthood from the queen, The Queen has had tea and scones with The Pope (managing directory of a successful Chapel dealership), The Pope's boss is God.

Of course this link crumbles when you argue that God doesn't exist.......discuss.

The Pope -> God end of the Roddy -> God link doesn't really work, given the Polish bodach's status as An Ana-Chriosd, (up to all sorts of obair an t-shatain) in most branches of Leodhasach theology.

So you have in fact, connected Roddy to the Devil instead. Just what you'd expect from a Goth!

Legendary Producer Bod to Legendary Producer Sam Phillips (via Elvis) in 7? moves.

- Bod produced the latest Guireans album (allegedly).
- The latest Guireans album has Dead Olac on it.
- Dead Olac's cousin in Canada knows a cailleach.
- The cailleach in question is an auntie of Sarah Smith
(thon blone who writes a column for the Scotsman on Saturdays and is supposed
to be Channel 4 news's Scotland correspondent but I've never seen her).
- Sarah Smith's cousin is married to a cove called Melvin
- Melvin is a cousin of Elvis Presley
- Elvis Presley's Legendary Producer was Bod - Sorry, Sam Phillips.
