Ho Ho Ho and may your Bells Jangle with the utmost
jangleness. Merry Xmas to you all from the Dun Ringles and
may you all not forget the true meaning of this time of
year, the birth of Santa. (If I can borrow that one from
Bart Simpson)
The message board is getting very heavy of late what with
references and links to Germanic Wagnerian Ring Cycle type
things and debate about the very existance of Goth.
I note a bit about a Guirean meeting someone famous, that
Midge Ure cove from out of Slick, and I was wondering if
anyone else has come across a famous rock star. My favourite
is meeting Martin Barre of Jethro Tull after a gig in
Glasgow a few years ago. All us Dun Ringles were ver ver
drunk and as we staggered up the road wee Martin emerged
from the Concert Hall en route to the tour bus. We rushed
towards him and Jason tried to convey to him how majestic he
thought his guitar playing was, however, Jason was so drunk
all that came out was 'oh, that gig was 'quite' good' where
upon Mr Barre almost burst into tears at this damning with
faint praise. I suppose you had to be there.
I also once asked Ian McCulloch of the Bunnymen if they
would do a cover of Zing Pops Me and My Tractor when they
played in the Cabar in 83 but they surprisingly enough
didn't.
