As any amadan knows, "Captain Scarlet (Oi Version)" was the first track on the best-forgotten "EMI Cassette Super C60" from 1980.

Can't imagine that we ever had any intention of calling a whole tape after the indestructible puppet, though.

Imagine what would have happened if we'd started off on Gerry Anderson's creations rather than the usual cast of the B*ws, J**n Sc*b**, S*ndy M*th*s*n etc...

"Brains goes to Bennadrove"?
"Captain Black Gets Run Over"?
"Hey Hey We're Virgil Tracy's Guireans"?
"Troy Tempest Is a H*m*s*x**l"?
"The (Captain) Cac Album"?
"Joe 90 Is God (Sorry - Bod)" etc etc...

And why hasn't my copy of "Hey Hey We're Gordon Macleod's Guireans (1986/7)" got "Another One Shears The Sheep" on it?

Cadaverous, can you take a look at the track listing and tell me if you've got any other songs that I haven't?

Not a lot of people know this, but Anderson Road is actually named after Gerry Anderson, an honour the Town Council bestowed on him for producing his little known earlier series Captain Curam and the Mysteriheathens, which was sadly never shown, but was filmed in the back of Maciver and Darts workshop using peats instead of puppets.
I'm sure you also all know that Matheson Rd was named after S***y M******* and Morison Avenue after some famous actor whose name I can't remember just now, but are there any more Stornoway streets named after famous local worthies. I think we should be told.

I have been told that Cromwell Street was named after Len Street, one time High Church elder who had a bizarre kid on American accent, dunno about the Cromwell part though.

Where the Old Lewis Hospital used to be has a new estate known as Uphill Gardens, with street names such as S*o*ie Lane....probably.

i'm thinking of writing a song about it ' let me take you down cause i'm going to Strawberry Fields, it's a derelict ex-garden centre beside an old folks nursing home ' , an there's a Penny lane down the road in Nairn.

oh aye and John Scobie was a h*teros*xual.

Monopoly fans and students of police history will be aware that London's B*w Street was named after C*l*n,  the well known Sandwick bon vivant and conoisseur of fine 4-crown.

Or maybe it was his nautical brother T*rm*d, who allegedly navigated a fishery cruiser up the famous thoroughfare in 1873, while under the influence of Watson's Trawler Rum. (Peatboy Funk was most displeased when he discovered that his carry out was missing).

And still on Sy street names, was Newton St really named after thon cove who discovered apples. What was his name again???????? Oh yes Sir Isaac Apples. Or did I pick Kenny Baldy up wrong. Who incidently, I saw at the Saw Mill Woodland Centre Tea Room Cafe thing on Monday. He hasn't changed a bit except his tweed jacket looked newer.(circa 1950 possibly?)
And what about Macleod Rd, named after Gordon? Infact, thats two streets named after famous Guireans, what with Roddy's Morison Avenue. I never knew you coves were so popular. Next you'll be telling me there's an ex New Town with good football team in the central belt called Livingston.
All we've got is a bleedin' pile of ollacks on Skye and a scabby hotel named after us.

There's Mill Road (after Cecil B)

Francis Street (after Ford Coppola)

Cameron Terrace in Leurbost (after thon Titanic cove)

Cearn Russell (I made that one up)

And of course Kenneth Street, after the Terminator of Tax Avoidance himself.

Och yus indeed and what about all the streets named after right wing dictators such as Smith Avenue after Rhodesian PM Ian Smith. The Free Presbyterians had also planned on having Hitler Drive and Ghengis Khan Gardens but received complaints from their congregation that those characters weren't right wing enough.

And what about Assaye Place which was in honour of Cowboy and other old English teachers in the Niccy except it was meant to be Essay Place except the sign maker had gone to the Castle School and couldn't spell it rightly.

And what about one of the towns more elegant roads , Ferry Road, which was named after Mr Smooth himself Bryan Ferry.

And I can't think who Queensland Road was named after.
