In a shock announcement, bound to shock all
those who hear the announcement, Glasgow's
premier Death Ceilidh outfit the Oatcakes
are to split up. Six years after they first
went really loud at some student do at
Glasgow Uni they have decided that a slight
sogginess has occured, and that it is time
to go their separate ways. Guitarist Rod ("Roddy
Morrison") Morison said: "Yes, it's true. We
were rehearsing for the Loch Fyne
Traditional Music Festival when we realised
that the Oatcakes had indeed become soggy
due to being kept in a clammy drawer and
rarely seeing the light of day.
Unfortunately, soggy Oatcakes are no use to
anyone, so we decided to throw them away."
The final appearance of the now somewhat
mushy band will be at some wedding in Lanark
on Friday 27th September.
While at the Loch Fyne festival, Rod
("Roddy") spotted Alan Dick in the street
and successfully managed to hide from him
behind the singer out of another band. It is
not believed that the appearance of Alan
Dick and the subsequent sogginess of the
Oatcakes are connected.
