Somebody (Wattie) was recently pointing out the rising trend of 70s Nicolson teachers' kids growing up to be big in the Music Biz, highlighted recently by the likes of Alyth McCormack, thon Heather Macleod (Murdo John the art teacher's daughter who is apparently very big in Japan) and now Iain Mackinnon, son of Froagy and aspiring MOR megastar.

Could it be that other famous pop figures of today are also the offspring of past Nicolson teachers, but have understandably chosen to disguised their origins?

For example, I always reckoned that Kim Wilde must have been H*bba's daughter because he was very wild too. Except that maybe his kids were actually Bjorn and Benny.

Perhaps weight-troubled angst-lite chanteuse Pink be the spawn of portly ginger physics teacher Pinky?

And there was always that Joe Jackson thing - you know how he looked awfully like K*nny B*ldy... And Barts and Gareth Gates, of course...

Are our readers aware of other examples of this phenomenon?

Oh yus, and wasn't Edd*e Yo*ng's eldest song yon Neil Young bloke who's 'Landing On Water' album was really a concept album all about the splash a trout fly makes as it hits the loch.
And Depute Rector Mr Wh*tef*rd was actually the dad of beardy folk musician cove and science teacher Al* Wh*tef*rd, although not many people know that.
And T*m the English Teacher Cl*rk was father to Vince Clark out of Erasure, who took their name from Toms broad sweeps of the blackboard with the duster.
And who can forget Bob Sc*tt, Music, who'se wee Mike went on to find fame as a Roddy Morrison impersonater.

Bob Sc*tt was Mike Sc*tt's dad?  There's a double celebrity connection for you indeed, because it's well known that B*b Sc*tt himself was the love child of C*rry On star Kenneth W*lliams!

Thon other Mr Sc*tt (physics) also had a pop star son - a wee lad who found fame and fortune when he was spotted singing with his skiffle combo in the 4i's coffee bar (later known as the Ren Den) back in 1957... No, wait a minute - Mr Sc*tt actually was Cliff R*chard, so he couldn't have been his own dad, unless he had one of them time machines and... obh obh mo cheann.

And Br*wn Owl was definitely thon Mick H*cknall's dad. Nobody thinks of that one because H*cknall is such a wee s**te, but if he had been brought up at home in Airidhabhruaich on a diet of bradan and poached stag then he would have been as big as his old man.

And of course, there was the often misspelt 60s soul star Wilson Picken, son of thon maths teacher blone who allegedly nearly got married to Kenny N*rd.

The world record breaker for being a 70s Nicolson Teacher with Pop Star Kids must belong to bicycling Plasterfield maths dabbler J*ssie James. She's obviously the mother of James, The James Gang, and 70s funky dude Jimmy James, to name but 3. Although admittedly none of them Jameses were all that famous...
