Newvalley Musical Express, Sunday 7 December 2007 :  The latest secret documents declassified under Bord Stiureadh na h-AGOFR's 25-year freedom of information rules reveal disturbing evidence of a boardroom battle at Tape Records in the early 80s.

Tape Records deputy CEO Wattie appears to have made a unilateral bid to steal the Guireans from Sandwick's Plook label, without the knowledge of his boss, sinister Matheson Road Pop Svengali CJ Mitchell (83).  Or did he? Could CJ have forged Wattie's signature in order to ensnare the Guireans in a dead-end contract so that he could kill them off? What the fleek was going on?

The perimiter gates at Knock Studios remained firmly closed yesterday, and requests for an interview were met with a curt "fleek off" from a burly member of Wattie's security staff. Or maybe it was just the cailleach next door.

Telephone calls to CJ's penthouse at the top of Chicago's Sears Tower were not returned, mostly due to the fact that they weren't made in the first place cos it would have been too expensive.

Ahhhhhh, but you'll notice that the heading of the letter is 're. Proposed Contract......'

Could it be that the Guireans approached Tape Records first of all to seek a massive record company advance (£3.21 and a chicken supper) and this was CJ responding to that??

Yours
