The Devils........
Truley a sad song. The vocals that are so out of key and so not with the music they suck. Were you trying for a pixies thing? because you missed. The bass was the only thing worth listening to.
- wackysims from Lynden, Washington on 26Sep2004

Originality lives!
Whether I like it or not it gets twnty stars for orignality and experimentation. Within this particular type it's hard to critisize anything. The production is a bit rough at times but somehow works for this peice. Anything else may ruin it's charm. Reminds me of the spirit that went on in Britain in the eighties and in the world in the mid/late sixties. Good stuff.
- waters_paul from Greensboro, North Carolina on 26Sep2004

Bass heavy
1. Vox: The vocals are a little choppy, but they aren't out of key or anything, the performance is good - just a matter of taste I suppose.

2. Mix: I think the bass is a little too prominent, but at the same time the song seemed to be structured around the bass line, so maybe that was intentional.

3. Who you sound like: Doesn't remind me of any particular band or anything. The singer seems to have some Midnight Oil flavor, and the guitars have some reminiscince of The Cure.
- DannyVago from Omaha, Nebraska on 25Sep2004

I like reverb
Actually I don't.. and there's a little too much reverb on this vocals.

The devils got feelings?
I love these songs where I can't understand the lyrics.

no idea who you sound like.
- natesaider from New York on 24Sep2004

Sounds like a soft Meatloaf.
Vocals. Good. Kind of loud over the other instruments though.

Mix. Okay mix. Vocals are a bit too loud, in front.

Who do you sound like? You sound like Meatloaf in Rocky Horror picture show... just a little softer.
- Grimm_Cadaver from Burbank, California on 24Sep2004

Not my style...
The overall production quality sounds good. Im just not into the music but i think its out together very well.
- MinusMilk from Pueblo, Colorado on 24Sep2004

If Al Could Do It
Well, if Wierd Al Yancovich could make it, I guess you could make a name in the edge of Alternative with this style. The edgy feel and sarcastic nature of the composition give it a quirky appeal.

Nice guitar work and well recorded.
- Film_Director from Portland, Oregon on 23Sep2004

uuugh
Not a big fan of this kinda stuff
Bass is happenin. Drums should kick louder in the mix to go w/it
I guess they get some talking head comparisons. production didnt seem too hot to me.
- MarcusJones from Los Angeles, California on 23Sep2004

new wave adventure
Very good new wave tune
vocals are unique and well done, very clear in the mix and understandable, rare for a song on here, I could stand a little less reverb, but for this type of tune it fits...
mix is top notch, nothing sticks out, and nothing lags - guitar sits nicely somewhere between panned hard left and right, kinda of 75% pan which is an interesting effect...
this really reminds me of the 80's kind of a devo meets The B-52s sound. Singer really sounds like the guy from the B-52s. There are definitely people who can get into this as a lotta people still like this sound, especially here in Athens, GA...good luck to you
- OBH from Athens, Georgia on 22Sep2004

wacky
the vocals are interesting but i'm just not sure about this song...i like the guitar melody...the production could be better...the drums and guitar need to come up and meet the vocals...the bass lines are nice...are you the guy from the b-52's???
- thecrashroom from Russell, Kentucky on 21Sep2004

BAD B-52'S
The problem here is the execution. Cause this song could easily have been written by The B-52's or R.E.M. but the production is missing the elements that make their songs compelling. Also there's too much reverb on the vocal. That said...I'm not really a fan of this particular song because its a little generic in terms of melody.
- hurlyburly from Down, South on 20Sep2004

Back to the Future!
This song has a very 80's sound to it. Both in production and style. There's a lot of reverb milling around which does complement the sound if the previously described style is what you want. If not, I would say it maybe muddies up the production a bit.

The guitars for example sound a bit too distant in the mix with their reverb and don't come across as persisting as their line suggest wanting to do.

But as I see it, either this is the sound and style you want to go for and then it's pretty much spot on well done, or this song and production has a tendency to sound a little dated.
- Ktheil from London, N/A, United Kingdom on 20Sep2004

Mild Sauce.
It was okay. The music was arranged okay, the vocals and everything else made this band sound like a mediocre Dead Kennedys. It's not something i would rip out someone's infected toenail for, but if it came on the radio, I wouldn't go outta my way to turn it off.
- EscapeTheReign from Drakesboro, Kentucky on 19Sep2004

original..
You guys have an original sound that I like. If I could compare you to anyone I would have to say david bowie, the cure and the guys who sing "take me out". now about the mix- I'm sorry man but the mix is really bad. There is too much reverb on the vocals and the vocals are not near loud enough. The effect on the vocals is way too trebly in some parts too. the vocal performance could be better. I love the lo-fi drums and the guitar tones. the main guitar riff is pretty cool. With a little bit better mix and performance this song could be up there on this website.
- crescendo from Lubbock, Texas on 18Sep2004

loved it
hey cats/punks ~ I loved this tune...it reminds me of my youth. I'm an old burnt out punk rocker and was there to see the Pistols live and talk all night to Joe Strummer...and all the bands that came after.

This is a very cool tune that keeps your ear drum connected via a thin glass wire to the cheap pc speakers, thanks Nikola Tesla.

Cinco. Aribas Grande. Mas Fina.
- OO@418578~EmeraldCoast from Emerald Coast, Florida on 18Sep2004

haha
This song is making me laugh, and I think that is what you intended (I hope). I like the vocals and quirkiness. I think the drums sound pretty awful, though. They sound like they were recorded inside a closed tin can with the mic on the outside... You should really get a better recording. The guitars are fighting too much with the vocal. I really dig the chorus, and I think the song would be really cool with better production.
- madscene from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 16Sep2004

BOSSANOVA
This track is certainly a grower. There's far too much reverb on the lead vocals, and they are also too high in the mix. There needs to be more power from the guitars, which by the way, are really good. The guitar and style reminds of the pixies ( bossanova period), who I love.
- egohead from Unspecified on 16Sep2004

Cool song
The mix is very sixties garage sound...like Question Mark and the Mysterians...Vocals are really cool ...great drumming..tight ,simple and to the point..also reminds me a bit of "Wipeout" by The Safaris
- afterthem from East Brunswick, New Jersey on 14Sep2004

pretty good
Like Pere Ubu type of shit! I like it.The vocals are interesting and anti-rock...very nice!!The mix sounds alright at 64kbps! I'd like to hear it at a higher bit rate maybe. The bass line is very Interpolish as well as the solo. I'd say that you have a winner here in my books!
- zantetzuken from Surrey, British Columbia, Canada on 14Sep2004

stan ridgeway?
yeah this is cool tune. it feels like Wall of Voodoo.

i like the weird lyrics. and i really like the guitar riff.

my problems with the song are that there's no real dynamics -- the chorus has the same feel as the verse. one of the best parts of the song is the breakdown section (just drums and filtery bass) because it dynamically different from the rest of the song. lastly, this track should be mastered to bring up the level.
- JumpingJacks from New York on 13Sep2004

Start Stop Start
You have an original voice. THat's always nice.

The soung starts off alittle off rythm.

Composition wise, it's original enough to be engaging, but it sort of peaks and crashes rather early as it's slightly repetitve.

The added voices on the bridge and chorus are a little saturated and off pitch.

Production value i would suggest equalizing and running your guitars trough warmer preamps.

If your kit is a drummachine, try recording it with a click to make sure you're on time.

Good job overall.
- mancino from New York on 13Sep2004

Rocky Horror
vocals are solid. Mix is fine. I'm not sure who you sound like other than the cast of the Rocky Horror Picture Show (but only a little).

This is a solid, but not very inspired song. I think it's the melody that holds it back more than anything. It's to obvious. You've set up a solid rock foundation. To take this song to the next level, maybe you should play with the melody some more. Use some of the "in between" notes of the chords.
- josephadune from New York on 13Sep2004

starts out not so good
the vocals are just too weird for me, I can hear the need for them to be a little off, guitar gives them that fill, guitar is good by the way, this is hard for me to review it is not my kind of music, the mix sounds good, and as far as who you sound like I dont know, I do like it near the ending without the singing it gives me a good hear for the guitars and drums, good job
- georgiegoesfish from Desert Hot Springs, California on 13Sep2004

and to think, i used to hate that 80's sound
i like what you guys were workin for in this song but the bad mix and overly reverbed vocals subtract alot. get a better recording before you put a song out because a good song recorded poorly is as bad as a bad song recorded well
- gypsysun from Oxford, Mississippi on 13Sep2004

Different in a cool way. REM, meets LIVE!
The vocals are different from the normaal stuff, they remind me of ed Kawalchick and michael stipe with a lower range. It is sort of cool.

The lyrics are very good, they are interesting.

The mix is pretty good. It could use a little more bass though. I think the solo was great for the song.

The song sounds like old school REM, with a touch of Live. Which I really like both bands. Good job here.
- fuzzballrecords from Ida, Michigan on 13Sep2004

Interesting sound... on purpose?
I have to wonder, did you create this sound on purpose, or do you have bad equipment? Either way, I think it's a really interesting, definitely very unique and attention grabbing sound. It's almost like you guys are playing in another room in the house. It's also a very upbeat song, without being too high energy, which contributes to the "less is more" quality of this song that is inherent in the guitar line. I like how the guitar never tries to do anything even remotely complex, yet remains interesting. That can be hard to pull off :)

I can't quite put my finger on who you sound like (which is good in my opinion) but the chorus line is syllabically reminicent of that song that goes "it's hip to be square."
- ryanreynolds from Walnut Creek, California on 13Sep2004

hmmmm
not crazy about the voxs but the music is decent rock
im not sure who you sound like maybe ozzy or maybe an 80's european band
- Sakredmezur from Stuart, Florida on 13Sep2004

started to (bleed?)
too much reverb on the vocals. Lots of reverb is cool, but not lots of cheap reverb, which is what that sounds like.

Got to be honest --- not liking this song. I'll try to be constructive, tho. I like the effect w/ the vocal doubled on the bottom.

This production sound is really muddled, I think in part because both the guitar and vocals have lots of reverb, and however you miced the drums -- it sounds like a single overhead, maybe w/ a mic at BD level -- it's not quite reverby but "distant", which is close enough. That leaves just the bass w/ a "clean" signal, but its eq'd w/ the mids very strong. Bass mids land about squarely in the range of reverb delay. BTW -- if you're going to play straight eighths like that -- NO wrong notes, please.

I think that keeping the reverb on the guitar, using different effects on the vocals (flanging really slow?), using the 4 mic drum mic setup (BD, snare, toms, overhead) and a direct into the board for the bass, using this as a scratch track will improve this tune 100%.

All the notes and beats are in the right places, and the vision for this song is very clear. I think this take does not live up to that vision.
- SuDocs from San Francisco, California on 11Sep2004

Bad Recording
Way too much reverb on the vocals, hard to tell if there even is any potential because the track is too clouded with bad effects. Try a more minimal approach if you are going to use such low grade recording techniques. Re-record and then repost
- Thalatha from San Diego, California on 11Sep2004

unusual low fi song
well, the vocals turned me off right away because i wasnt able to connect to either their tone or any melodic ideas. the guitar was a little too low fi sounding. the strongest part was the driving bass.
- coldbuggin from Brooklyn, New York on 11Sep2004

Devil Devil
Lots of reverb on the vocals - I like that. Interesting guitar line there behind the voice as the bass and drums chug along. Reminds me of a eighties kind of vibe. The 'transistor radio' background vocal on one side of the stereo at one point was cool. Fairly heavy duty rock. I'd like to hear this one live in concert. I'd be the first to flick on my bic lighter. I'm not sure how you recorded it but I';d like to hear a bit of a fatter kick drum and snappy snare..the drum performance is great and this might add another dimension. All in all, I liked it. Good work.
- elmer_thudd2002 from Vancouver Island, Canada, British Columbia, Canada on 11Sep2004

heaven help us
vocals are very twin peaks midget stylie great song the mix need the drums to come up a bit to bassy on the snare evry thing else sound fine sounds like the cramps all the way it very cool i love it
- reqord from London, United Kingdom on 10Sep2004

Catchy tune
THis is a very catchy song. I find myself still humming it after it was over.
- Mystyk from Cherry Tree, Pennsylvania on 9Sep2004

Good song, obsure production gets annoying
Reminds me of the Pixies because of the vocal and track sound. I like how the vocals start out, it sounds like an announcer, but after a minute, I would like the vocal reverb/delay effect to be put aside and to hear the music close up. Without a change, the music just sounds cheeply produced.

Besides the production, I do like this sound. The bass drives things the entire song while the guitar has some original things to say here and there. The vocals are cool. I can't tell what the lyrics are: "The devil's gone gay?" lol, that can't be what you're saying. I also like the drums, even if it sounds like a drum machine.

Overall, this is a good song, it just needs a different production approach. Wish you were around Columbus Ohio, I would offer my services:)
- Edgehan from Columbus, Ohio on 9Sep2004

rock shack
pretty rockin tune, i love the guitar tones, they cut really nicely, and lick you play up high is melodic and killer! the beat that the rhythm section uses to drive this song is really movin too. the vocals though seem strange for this type of song, they sound kind of too b52s for a song that wants to rock like this one. but hey it is an interesting sound, can't think of who it sounds like.
- r_digga from Denver, Colorado on 9Sep2004

production...
The production is a little weak. I like the guitar line playing but the vocals seem to be too loud for the rest of the music. I like drums and bass to be out froon and that's not the case here. I like in your face mixes when the bass is booming along. The vocal register of the singer is a bit out of place for the song leaving it without the hook that it needs.
- cscap from Easton, Pennsylvania on 8Sep2004

Tweak It
Vocals - For the kind of music, the vox sound kinda restrained and a bit pitchy in places.
Mix - Could be tweaked. The bass is louder than the drums. The drums need more separation.
Who Do We Sound Like - Talking Heads
- maluko from Gastonia, North Carolina on 8Sep2004

not bad
vocals off key in the beginning. also, the vocals are not loud enough in the mix. music sounds really good, but i'm not too big on the vocals. you sound like a coolster band from brooklyn that has some metal/hard rock influence.
- iidefinitionii from Brooklyn, New York on 8Sep2004

Lou B-52
1 - Vocals. OK. Kind of jangly and jaunting.

2 - Mix. It was OK, but I'm guessing that you didn't want a real clean sound anyway, right?

3 - Who they sound like? Definite B-52's influence here. Sort of sounded like Rock Lobster in the beginning. Also hear some Lou Reed in spots.
- bluejams from Westerville, Ohio on 8Sep2004

B-52's
For the first minute, I thought you guys sounded like the B-52's! good stuff. mixing's good. I didn't like all the reverb on the vocals. -maybe that's what you were going for though?
- BitterRoots from Hoffman Estates, Illinois on 7Sep2004

Crazy shit.
Crazy shit and i like it ! Like the effect on the vocals. The mix is working for this song, no super high-quality sound. Makes me think of early B52's !
- marenjones from East Of Eden, Brabant, Belgium on 7Sep2004

River of blood ra..
Hmmm ... yes, yes this is interesting. The vocals ALMOST seem like a very watered down primus delivery at times. THe mix - well, isn't great, unless it's your artistic expression. But i'm guessing your problem is money - like it is for most of us.

Who do you sound like? Well, that's a good thing, because nobody really comes to mind ... almost sound like Danzig or something .. but, like, if he wore pink and purple instead.

Trust me - there's a compliment in there somewhere, haha

keep it up!
- Stonedeafmv from Ironton, Missouri on 6Sep2004

Great Break!
The break at 2:12 or so was great. The drums and bass are really fantatic in this band. Timing is spot on all the way through.

Vocals: This guy sounds good. I don't hear anything out of pitch or out of tune. Also there is emotion behind the words and that's good.

Mix: I thought it sounded good. I could hear all the peices of the band clearly.

Who do you sound like: At first I was thinking Oingo Boingo... But, it's definetly a orginal sound.

Good luck -
Mike
- Funk0r from Tempe, Arizona on 6Sep2004

Very promising Sci-fi rock
This is really cool. The vocal effect has a science fiction or B movie tone, and makes the singer sound a bit like a deep south preacher. That's a great thing for this style of song. The beat and guitars are really inventive and don't do what you might expect - for me, that's always a good thing. It's got a really good hook and I like the way it goes up a gear before the chorus, as well as easing back down before the solo. The mix is also quite perfect and has a good 50's echo. Well played too, and I'd be keen to listen to this again. It sounds quitelike the 80's Matchbox B-line Disaster (I'm not sure if they're known outside England), but they're a good band and so are this one.
- IanEvans from London, United Kingdom on 6Sep2004

b52s less the girls, +U2
Decent new-wavey punky-pop, but not too much in it that is really new or particularly inspired; fairly stock. Good players, performances and somewhat distinctive vocals. The mood is typical campy secret agent stuff, ala B52's. Could benefit plenty by inserting more dynamics and variations on the theme. For instance, the drums seem to nary vary anywhere, and this gets monotonous. Throw in a few more fills here and there. (However, on 2nd listen, I'm thinking it's actually a drum machine, so do you really want to do that additional programming?...) Same for guitar-- there is room for a few more melody hook/riffs. Relatedly, the overall beat/groove is too much the same throughout. To maintain interest, how about backing off now and then? In other words, use your dynamics. Another approach might be to revise the songwriting to make more interesting parts, such as more and different chord changes, instead of the too much predictability that it is now. Didn't hear anything special about the outro, so no comment...
- MikeOso from Atlanta, Georgia on 3Sep2004

Promising
Promising start loses itself in a homage to the bass. Outro could maybe try and develop another rhythm more forecefully. I liked it more on the second listen, and generally got a light hearted feel out of it maybe because I associated it with George Thorogood, don't ask me why?
