Back in 1983, the young and foolish Leroi Z Coondawg became disillusioned with the strict presbyterian religion of his remote Outer Hebridean home. Forsaking the doctrine of predestination, Leroi came to be convinced that spiritual enlightenment could only be achieved by studying the mystical codes hidden in the sleeve notes of the 13th Floor Elevators. One night, in a rash experiment to ascend to a higher plane, Leroi read the back of "The Psychedelic Sounds" and immediately followed it up with Marcus Tybalt's incoherent text from "A Web of Sound" by the Seeds. Nightmarish hallucinations ensued, in which Leroi's astrally projected mind was abducted by a posse of alien alligators and subjected to a variety of indignities at their hands/paws/flippers/whatever. Afterwards, Leroi was convinced of the reality of his experience. Only when he remembered that the 'gators had also abducted his "girl" did it become depressingly obvious that it was quite clearly a load of &*%$* that he'd imagined. Still, at least he got a song out of it. This here 2-chord psychedelic soul freakout was written and gigged a bit back in 84/85 by MLATRFOD precursors The Subterraneans (http://groups.msn.com/The Subterraneans) and also by the original 5-man Memphis Louie an' The Rockin' Firebirds of Death line-up. Despite that, nobody's attempted a "studio" recording until now. You might say it's cause it wasn't worth the effort. We say that recording technology needed to advance for 20 more years before it was ready to capture the sounds ree-verberatin' in Leroi Z Coondawg's head

Signature Review IsThis The 13th Floor?
Yes, honestly it sounds a lot like Roky Erikson and the 13th Floor Elevators, Kings of Texas psychedelic rock! And since the band asked we'll make comparisons to the Jefferson Airplane as well.

Honestly this is just simply one of the best things I've heard on GB. Production is dead on and all the players are represented appropriately in the mix.

The mood is phucked up and we like that! All the jangly quitar things and the driving downbeat courted by vocals (and spooky woah woah woahs) that create mass hysteria bring this into a downward spiral that, in the end, lift it high above anything I've heard in awhile.

Has Roky come back from the musically dead?

I Saw Elvis in San Francisco!
Interesting intro. I love the effects on the vocals, and I love the effects on the guitars, and I somewhat like the effects on the bass and drums, but altogether... I thought I was high and being flushed down a toilet of love!

The mood is pot, heroine, mushroom, speed, and downers.

You sound like Elvis in a 60's, San Francisco based band.

Lyrics 18 gators in space gonna get your mind. they gotta swamp green ufo comin on overdrive. they're comin' in through a hole in dimension 9. it's a polychromatic vortex in space and outta time - 18 gators in space will also steal your girl. take your mind and your girl to their liquid plastic underworld. they eat your mind and they'll turn your girl's skin green. then they'll sick up your mind and they'll sell it to an IBM machine - this hole in space is really in your orange brain. gotta close it up right now before you go insane. and make another vortex through to another plane. send 18 gators in space into someone else's brain.
