Wilbur must have
arranged this
gig with David
Maclennan and
Robbie Dawson of
the Mean Time.
This was a
Saturday night
dance for the
under-18s in the
Tong/Back/Gress/Tolsta
area, although
there were a few
diehard Meantime
fans out from
Stornoway for
it.
The first
time Dead ever
got to hold a
real life bass
guitar was when
Meantime bassist
Robbie Dawson
handed him his
Kay at the
soundcheck.
Kenny Stewart,
who was drumming
for the Meantime
then, sat in for
the Dark Visit
as well, and did
an excellent job
despite not
having heard the
band or their
songs before.

& White" attire
recently
Don’t remember
much else about
it, except that
“Hello I Love
You” was widely
mistaken for
“All Day and All
of the Night” by
the Kinks. The
band must have
enjoyed it,
though,
because they
went back for
more in March of
82.
There were tapes
of both the
Meantime and
Dark Visit sets
in existence.
Steven had the
Dark Visit tape,
so until we find
him we don’t
know if it still
exists.
