Saturday ?? March 1982 at Coll Centre – The Dark Visit Support the Mean Time again

Lineup

  • William “Wilbur” Macleod (Vocals, Harmonica)
  • Steven “Macca” Macdonald (Guitar)
  • Iain “Dead” Livingstone (Bass)
  • Iain “Not the weatherman” Macaskill (Drums)

Another brief support slot at Coll, this time with Meantime singer Iain Macaskill sitting in on the drums, and putting a “Stray Cats” style rockabilly backbeat behind "Back Door Man".

The band were always keen to play more Doors songs, but struggled with the complexity of the material. Shortly before the gig, Steven announced that he’d worked out the chords for “Light My Fire” so the band set to work putting his version together. Unfortunately, but maybe not surprisingly, the somnambulant axeman had come up with a Radio 2-style easy listening arrangement that would have put Perry Como to sleep. Luckily Wilbur and Dead’s musical inability combined with a dodgy sound redressed the balance and gave the song back a bit of a rough edge.

Once again, Steven is believed to have had a tape of this set.

Songs
