Memphis Louie
Studebaker aka
Roddy "Huggan"
Huggan
Played :
Vocals,
Harmonica 1985 -
1985
Roddy carried on
playing with
various
Meantime
incarnations for
years after Memphis Louie an' the Rockin' Firebirds of Death broke up in 1985.
Played drums
briefly with
No Head Jackson
& The
Sharecroppers
from Hell
while on
placement in
Edinburgh 1988.
He also played
for many years
in a dodgy
Aberdeen covers
outfit that he
refuses to tell
anyone anything
about, which may
have been called
Photograph. And the
guy from the Shamen's brother
was in it, or
something.
Now living in
Forres, and
churning out
songs like
nobody's
business, Roddy plays
proper sensitive solo
singer/songwriter
type stuff as
himself. He
has appeared on
Cathy Bhan's BBC
Radio Nan
Gaidheal "2 gu
Ceithir" show,
live from the
Edinburgh
Festival Fringe.
Since 2003 he's
also been back in the
studio on and off with
Leroi Z Coondawg
and
producer/backing
vocalist/all
round bad
influence Ossian
Stormwatch III,
recording stuff
as
Memphis Louie an
the Rockin
Firebird of
Death.
Check out
Roddy's facebook page for
regular updates
on his non-Memphis
Louie
activities. His
myspace
page at
http://www.myspace.com/roddyhuggan
is defunct. Sadly so is his
excellent Meantime
site, which used
to contain loads
of non-ceilidh
band Meantime
history, photos,
lyrics etc, but was erased when Bill Gates killed off msn groups.
Even more sadly,
Roddy has also
continued to be
a member of
The Guireans,
having joined in
1983. He
occasionally
plays with
lesser AGOFR
outfits such as
Cyclefoot and
also appears in
a number of
Swedish TV
tribute bands.
