Subterraneans Practice Tape (1984)
Bass Drum Cover by Emil Subterraneans Lineup 2 (or some of them) Various stuff recorded in Leroi’s front bedroom through Easter and Summer of 84, some of it by the full band and some by various subsets of the members. Quality isn't great because the band had to keep the noise down and couldn't use the full drum kit. In fact I think percussion is limited to a hi-hat at most. However, it's interesting because it shows the new material the band were working on at the time. The version of the Sonics' "He's Waitin'" with Zink on vocals (and Emil blowing harmonica throughout) is particularly good. The attempt on Little Walter's "Up The Line" showed promise as well. Neither of these songs ever made it into a live set, though. The last 3 are originals that never made it to being jammed by the whole band. “Coyote Mind” is a lyric by Emil over a bass riff by Leroi. “9 Plagues” and “Ghost of Texas Minds” were substandard Leroi compositions, and the versions on the tape are very bad. Non-Subterranean Jimmy Kyle plays guitar on these two tracks - just cause he was down at the house that day. Tracks:
