Memphis Louie an the Rockin’ Firebirds of Death - Live at the Royal (5/9/85)
Firebirds lineup 2 live at the Royal 5/9/85. L-R : Leroi Z Coondawg, Memphis Louie Studebaker, Etheridge Lockjaw Jones 1st, Levi Mac 'an Sheonaidh Rickenbacker, Bob Bitchin's Right Arm Live tape of most of the Memphis Louie set from the legendary triple header with Swedish TV and The Meantime, which was to be the Firebirds' last gig. This is a "bootleg" recorded at the back of the hall by expelled Dark Visit drummer Alan Dick and aspiring actor Roddy Morrison. The batteries on their cassette player were running low by the time the Firebirds came on, so the quality isn't exactly hi-fi, but it's good enough to give a flavour of the night. Audience remarks add to the live atmosphere on the tape, as do the inebriated "producers'" increasingly incoherent between-song conversations.
Memphis Louie Studebaker's set list. Don't think the band stuck to it exactly in the end, and they went on last rather than second. Set Lists for the other bands are in there because Memphis was drumming for Swedish TV and singing for the Meantime! The tape or the batteries must have run out, as "Be Bop a Lula" and "You're Gonna Miss Me" are missing from the end. "Hi Heel Sneekers" seems to be missing from the start, too. Tracks:
