Flang Your Doodle (Tape Records 1994)
The bands first and only (so far) concept album. This was all about the Vikings and how they came, raped and pillaged and left. Based on a true legend, it tells how Bjorn and his men tried to tow the Hebrides back to Norway, but only succeeded in breaking them up into lots of small islands (the present day Outer Hebrides) for their troubles. And then they went and burnt down all the trees. Bastards. Once more recorded in Knock Studios between October 1993, Easter 1994 and Summer 1994. This tape saw the band bringing in a number of folky instruments to complement the celticy feel of the concept. The tape also had a commentary provided by Skip, linking the songs together. Featuring a more professional tape cover due to Jane finding out that MS Publisher can do tape covers which negated the need for scabby photocopying and measuring things. Another excellent cover by Jason. Sunset on The Seaweed A tranquil opening showing the bands gentler side The Hermits Homely Hut St Murdo, hero of the story, sits watching the sunset from his cliff top cell.
